Nexus is Sparco’s connector standard for intercom leads, and an adaptor is what you need when the plug on your helmet lead does not match the socket on the box, or when you are joining kit from two different generations of the system.

Choose the right end

There are two versions on this page and they are not interchangeable. A female Nexus connector and a male Nexus connector. Pick the one that mates with what you already have, which means looking at the free end of the lead you are trying to connect rather than at the socket you want to end up in. Getting this wrong is the single most common mistake with intercom adaptors, and it is a five second check.

If you are not certain, take a photograph of both ends and send it to us. We would rather look at it than have you order twice.

What it does not do

An adaptor changes the connector, not the wiring standard behind it. If your helmet lead is wired to a different pinout, an adaptor that physically mates will still not give you audio. Tell us what the two pieces of kit are, not just the plug shapes, and we will tell you whether an adaptor is enough or whether you need a different lead.

Intercom problems are usually connectors. It is worth carrying a spare adaptor in the kit bag.

Is this the right lead for my setup?
Leads and adaptors are specific to the amplifier and helmet kit they join, and the plugs are not interchangeable between systems. Tell us which amplifier and helmets you run and we will confirm this is the right part before you order.

My intercom crackles or cuts out. Is a new lead the fix?
Often, yes. Leads live a hard life being trodden on and trapped in doors, and a damaged lead is the most common cause of noise or dropouts. If a replacement does not cure it, talk to us before replacing the amplifier, as it may be a connector or helmet-kit fault instead.
