The Sparco P222 steering wheel, part number SPA015THPU. 345mm diameter, flat dish at 0mm, three aluminium spokes in silver, leatherette grip. Available in two insert colour options: black or silver.
The P222 is at the more accessible price point in Sparco’s steering wheel range. At 345mm it is slightly smaller than the 350mm L777, which suits tighter cockpits or drivers who prefer a smaller diameter for quicker rotation when steering input is less than a full lock. The flat dish means the rim sits wherever the boss positions it without pulling closer, so the final distance from your hands to your eyes depends entirely on which boss you fit.
The grip material is leatherette, not real leather. Leatherette is harder and less tactile than leather initially, easier to clean across a season, and more consistent in feel across temperature changes. Some drivers find it more slippery than leather when hands are very dry; gloves largely remove that variable. No stitching and no centre stripe keep the face of the wheel clean and uncluttered. The spokes are silver aluminium, which is the visual distinction from the L777‘s black spokes. Horn button is included, no other buttons.
Insert colour is the variation: black inserts or silver inserts. Black inserts make the whole face a consistent dark tone. Silver inserts carry the spoke colour onto the rim and give a two-tone finish.
At £119.50 this is meaningfully cheaper than the L777. If you want real leather or suede grip, the L777 is the step up. If you are replacing a wheel and want a functional Sparco rim without the premium material cost, the P222 covers that without compromise on the structural parts.
