Most of the damage a race suit takes happens in storage rather than in the car: folded in a holdall with boots on top of it, a suit picks up creases that never quite come out and holds whatever the rest of the bag smells of.

Looking after a suit

A flame retardant suit loses some of its protection if it is washed with the wrong things or dried on a radiator, so read the label rather than treating it as ordinary clothing. Hanging it rather than folding it is the single easiest thing you can do to make it last.

What fits in it?
It is shaped for a race or kart suit kept flat or folded once, which keeps the suit presentable and the fireproof layers uncreased between events. Most drivers keep underwear and gloves in with it too.
Is it worth a dedicated kit bag over a normal holdall?
The difference is compartments and padding in the right places: wet and dry separation, boot pockets that keep tarmac dust off your suit, and padded sections where they matter. A normal holdall works until the first time a buckle rubs a hole in fireproof fabric.
How do I look after it?
Brush it out and wipe it down rather than machine washing, and let it dry open after a wet weekend. Zips last longest if you close them before storage.
