The Sparco Super Stage rucksack. Part number SLW016445.
Bigger than the Stage, and the reason to step up is what is inside rather than simply the volume. It has a large zipped main compartment, a separate padded section for a laptop, a large zipped pocket and side zipped pockets. The main zip takes a padlock.
The laptop compartment is what makes it a different bag. Anyone running data, timing or a setup sheet at an event is carrying a laptop, and putting one in a bag with spanners and a helmet is how screens get broken. Having a padded slot for it means the same bag does both jobs.
Size
42 litres, measuring 52 x 40 x 20cm. Worth noting that it shares those outside dimensions with the 15 litre Stage: the extra capacity comes from how it is built rather than from a bigger bag, so it carries much more without being harder to get through a paddock or into an overhead locker.
Water resistant.
Where it fits
Engineers, team managers and anyone travelling to events with more than a set of gloves. It also works as ordinary luggage, which is why plenty of people end up using it for that as well.
Both hands free matters in a paddock, particularly if you are also carrying a helmet.
Colours
Black, black and blue, or the Martini design.
It is not a suit bag or a kit bag. A race suit wants hanging rather than folding, and a helmet wants a soft lined bag of its own. Ask us and we will match the set in the same livery if you want the full arrangement.
Will a full race kit fit?
It swallows the soft kit comfortably: suit, underwear, gloves, and boots. Helmets are better in their own padded bag, which also stops the visor getting scratched in transit.
Is it worth a dedicated kit bag over a normal holdall?
The difference is compartments and padding in the right places: wet and dry separation, boot pockets that keep tarmac dust off your suit, and padded sections where they matter. A normal holdall works until the first time a buckle rubs a hole in fireproof fabric.
How do I look after it?
Brush it out and wipe it down rather than machine washing, and let it dry open after a wet weekend. Zips last longest if you close them before storage.
