The Sparco Dakar duffle bag. Part number SLW016443.
A duffle is the right shape for race kit for a simple reason: a suit, boots and gloves do not pack like clothes. A wide opening lets you get a folded suit in and out without dragging it past a zip, and a soft sided bag takes whatever shape the boot of the car leaves for it.
Waterproof, with a hidden zip, a pocket and a transparent name and address window on the outside.
Two sizes, and the numbers behind them
Small is 60 litres and large is 110 litres, chosen at the top of the page. That is close to double, so it is a real decision rather than a nudge.
The thing that usually settles it is whether the helmet is going in the same bag. A helmet takes up a surprising amount of room and it wants a soft lined bag of its own if you care about the visor, so plenty of people run the 60 litre for soft kit and a separate helmet bag alongside.
If you are packing for a full weekend with spares and a change of clothes, take the 110.
Colours
Black and red, black and blue, or plain black.
Worth thinking about how it carries. 110 litres of race kit weighs more than it looks, and if you are walking any distance from the car park to the paddock that becomes the deciding factor rather than the capacity.
