The Sparco Tide Meca mechanics gloves. Part number 001318.
These are made with materials that meet the FIA 8856 standard, which is not the same thing as the gloves being FIA homologated. Read that carefully if your role in the pit lane is one where approved clothing is specified, because a scrutineer checks for a homologation number rather than for what a glove is made of.
Our listing has an FIA 8856-2018 approval against these and the manufacturerโs own description says they are not approved. We are getting that confirmed. If it matters to your role, ask us before you order and we will settle it rather than have you rely on a label.
What they are good at
Working on a car quickly without losing your hands. Aramid knit knuckle and finger reinforcements with a silicone coating, thumb reinforcement for cut and abrasion protection, and a silicone palm with a grip texture. The grip is the part you notice: a hot spanner and a slippery glove is how knuckles get opened.
They are the higher specification of the two Sparco mechanics gloves we carry, with the R-Meca below them.
Sizes
XS through XL, in black or fluorescent yellow. Take your normal glove size; these are meant to fit close enough to work in.
