The Complete B-G and MOMO Kia and Daewoo Steering Wheel Hub Guide

I am Cameron, I look after the steering wheel side of things at GSM Performance. This guide covers Kia and Daewoo together, because on their own neither catalogue is large enough to justify a guide of its own. Between the two makes there are 25 listings on our site.

The thing worth knowing upfront is that BG8184, the B-G hub for the Daewoo Espero, is the same part used on the Lotus Elise Mk1. Daewoo and Lotus were sharing a column in 1994. MC6605 connects the Daewoo Nexia and the LeMans to the Lotus Exige third generation as well. If you are fitting a hub to something with an interesting story behind it, the Daewoo side of this catalogue is worth a closer look than the badge suggests.

The Kia side is simpler. MK5702 covers the Capital, Concord, Pride and Sportage, all years. One MOMO part does all four. The photograph on this page is an AI illustration generated from our own product photography.

The Kia and Daewoo hub catalogue

An aftermarket wheel will not bolt onto a Kia or Daewoo column on its own. The boss kit is the part that bridges the two, and choosing the right one comes down to the model and the year.

The four Kia MOMO listings say All Years, which is correct. MK5702 fits every year of the Capital, Concord, Pride and Sportage. For Daewoo, check the year qualifier carefully: the Royal Prince and Royal Salon hubs are pre-1988 only. The MOMO Nexia and LeMans hubs carry the non-airbag qualifier in our listing titles, so check whether your column has a factory airbag before ordering.

Fitting a steering wheel hub

So how does a Sparco wheel end up on a MOMO hub? Because nearly every aftermarket motorsport wheel is drilled to the same pattern, six bolts on a 70mm circle, written as 6 x 70mm PCD. MOMO, Sparco, OMP, Simoni Racing and the Mountney M-Range all use it. The hub is chosen by your car, the wheel is chosen by you, and nothing locks you into one brand.

The Kia steering wheel hubs

Nine Kia hubs across two brands. B-G cover the Sephia from 1994 onward with BG8071, a solid non-collapsible hub. MOMO cover the Capital, Concord, Pride and Sportage with MK5702, which is collapsible and drilled 6 x 70mm. All four Kia models take the same MOMO part, which is why the MOMO side of this section appears four times under different model names.

The Daewoo steering wheel hubs

Sixteen Daewoo hubs across three brands. B-G cover the Espero, Lanos and Matiz. The Espero hub BG8184 is the same part used on the Lotus Elise Mk1, which says something about the column Daewoo chose in 1994. MOMO cover the Nexia and LeMans with MC6605, the Nubira with MK6608, and the Royal Prince and Royal Salon with ML0226. OMP cover the Nexia, Lanos and Matiz with solid non-collapsible hubs. The non-airbag qualifier on the Nexia and LeMans applies to the MOMO listings only, not OMP.

Browse by brand

The buttons below take you to the current range from each brand, filtered by make, so they stay accurate as stock moves. The OMP Daewoo kits appear in the Daewoo section above rather than in a separate brand button. If your car is not listed or you are not sure which listing to order, ask and send the registration over.

Why not add a steering wheel quick release kit

A quick release sits between the hub and the wheel and lets you pull the wheel off the column in a second. On a track car that is worth more than it sounds: a wheel that comes off with you is a wheel nobody can drive away with, and on a stripped interior getting the wheel out of the way makes getting in over the sill easier.

B-G Racing quick releaseFittingSuits
UniversalBolt-onMost road and track cars, nothing to modify
StandardBolt-onThe same job in the heavier duty version
Weld-On 3-PointWeld-onA column that is already being cut and welded
Weld-On 6-PointWeld-onAs above, with the stiffer six bolt fixing

All four take the same 6 x 70mm wheel bolt pattern as the boss kits on this page, so the wheel you pick below will fit whichever quick release you go with.

Pair your boss kit with a high performance steering wheel

Once the hub is sorted the wheel is your choice. These are the ones I would put in a Kia or Daewoo on track.

Every wheel we sell is drilled 6 x 70mm, so any of them will bolt to any of the hubs above. The only real decision is diameter and dish, which changes how heavy the steering feels and how close the rim sits to your chest.

Final thoughts

The Kia side is as straightforward as a hub catalogue gets. MK5702 covers four models in one part. The Daewoo side is where it gets more interesting, mostly because the columns were shared with Lotus in the nineties, and that raises the part numbers above what you would expect from the badge.

If you are not sure which listing to order, drop us a line. Tell me the model and the year and I will point you at the right one before you spend anything.

Cameron, GSM Performance
