The Complete B-G and MOMO Seat Steering Wheel Hub Guide

On a Seat the thing that decides your hub is not the model, it is whether the car has an airbag. I am Cameron, I look after the steering wheel side of things at GSM Performance, and this catches people out on Seats more than on anything else we sell.

The Arosa, the 1993 to 2001 Ibiza and the 1999 to 2002 Toledo each have two listings, one for the airbag car and one without, and they are different parts at different prices. Open the listing and read the title properly before you add it to the basket.

Below is the whole Seat range, what each hub covers, and the wheels that bolt to it.

The in-car photograph in this guide is an AI illustration, generated from our own MOMO product photography so the wheel and its horn button are the real thing.

Why you need a B-G or MOMO boss kit

An aftermarket wheel will not bolt onto a Seat column on its own. The column has splines, the back of the wheel has a bolt pattern, and the boss kit is the part that joins the two. It also sets how far the wheel sits from the dash, which decides your reach to the indicator stalks and the clearance over your knees.

Both brands machine theirs from cast aluminium and put the fixing screws, the Allen key and the horn button retaining ring in the box, so nothing is missing halfway through the job. The B-G kits are made in Italy and drilled twice, for 6 x 70mm and 6 x 74mm. The MOMO kits are drilled 6 x 70mm.

It joins two different fittings

Your column has splines. The back of the wheel has a bolt pattern. The hub is the only part that speaks both.

It sets how far the wheel sits

The hub decides the distance from the dash, which changes your reach to the indicator stalks and the clearance over your knees.

Nothing else to buy

The fixing screws, the Allen key and the horn button retaining ring are all in the box, so nothing stops you halfway through the job.

MOMO carry the modern Seats and B-G carry the older ones, which is a cleaner split than most makes. B-G run from the 127, 131 and 133 through the Malaga, the Marbella, the Ronda and the Toledo up to 1998, plus the Alhambra. MOMO pick up everything from the Ibiza onward.

One MOMO part does a lot of the work. MK8017R covers all three generations of Leon, the Altea, the Ibiza from 2001 to 2017, the Toledo from 1999 to 2009, the Cordoba from 2003 and the Mii. If you own any of those, that is your hub.

Steering wheel installation explained

So how does a Sparco wheel end up on a MOMO hub? Because nearly every aftermarket motorsport wheel is drilled to the same pattern, six bolts on a 70mm circle, written as 6 x 70mm PCD. MOMO, Sparco, OMP, Simoni Racing and the Mountney M-Range all use it. The hub is chosen by your car, the wheel is chosen by you, and nothing locks you into one brand.

The Seat B-G boss kit range

Ten B-G Seat hubs, all at the same money, covering the older half of the range. BG8025 is one part sold under the 127, the 131 and the 133, and the Malaga splits at 1990 with BG8108 up to 1989 and BG8110 after it.

The Toledo appears twice here for a reason. The 1991 to 1993 car takes BG8138, a solid design, and the 1994 to 1998 car takes BG8211, which is collapsible. The Alhambra from 1999 is BG8235.

Our top MOMO Seat boss kit collection

Twenty three MOMO hubs, all collapsible, all drilled 6 x 70mm. This is the bigger of the two ranges and it carries every Seat most people are actually driving.

Watch the airbag split. The Arosa is ML8014 without an airbag and MK8016R with one. The Ibiza from 1993 to 2001 is ML8014 for the non-airbag car and MK8016R otherwise, and the Toledo from 1999 to 2002 is MC8010 without. Getting this wrong is the single most common Seat ordering mistake we see.

The links here run a live search across the store, so they stay current as the range moves. OMP do three Seat hubs, covering the Arosa from 1997 alongside the 1994 to 1998 Toledo and the Cordoba, plus the first series Ibiza. Those are a solid, non-collapsible design, which is what most track and competition cars run. There is a Sparco Ibiza hub as well. If your Seat is not showing up, ask. Several of these cars share a column with a Volkswagen or a Skoda listed elsewhere on the site.

Why not add a steering wheel quick release kit

A quick release sits between the boss kit and the wheel and lets you pull the wheel off the column in a second. Two reasons people fit them. Getting in and out past a fixed wheel in a caged car is awkward, and a wheel that comes off with you is a wheel nobody can drive away with.

B-G Racing quick releaseFittingSuits
UniversalBolt-onMost road and track cars, nothing to modify
StandardBolt-onThe same job in the heavier duty version
Weld-On 3-PointWeld-onA column that is already being cut and welded
Weld-On 6-PointWeld-onAs above, with the stiffer six bolt fixing

B-G Racing do four. The universal and the standard bolt-on versions suit most road and track cars and need nothing modifying. The weld-on 3-point and 6-point are for a car where the column is being cut and welded anyway. All four take the same 6 x 70mm wheels as everything else on this page.

Pair your boss kit with a high performance steering wheel

Once the hub is sorted the wheel is entirely your choice. These are the ones I would put in a Seat, and there is a spread of diameter, dish and price here rather than ten versions of the same thing.

In an Ibiza Cupra or a Leon I would go for the MOMO Mod.11 or the Sabelt flat bottom. Both are around the diameter the car came with, so the steering does not suddenly get heavy at low speed, and the flat bottom buys you a bit of thigh room in a car with a fixed column. For an older Marbella or a 127, something classic like the Sparco 345 suits better.

Every wheel we sell is drilled 6 x 70mm, so any of them will bolt to any of the hubs above. The only real decision is diameter and dish, which changes how heavy the steering feels and how close the rim sits to your chest.

Final thoughts

Between B-G, MOMO and OMP there is a Seat hub for nearly everything from a 127 to a current Leon. The part is cheap next to the wheel, and the whole job comes down to matching the model, the year and, on three of them, whether the car has an airbag.

If you are stuck between two listings, drop us a line and ask for me. Send the registration over and I will tell you which hub you need before you spend anything.
