The OMP large trolley bag, with a padlock supplied. Part number OMPOB0-2983.
The bigger of the two. The medium is OMPOB0-2982, and if you are flying to events, that one is the more sensible choice.
The removable padded divider is the useful part
It is what stops a helmet rolling around against boots and a suit for the whole journey. Take it out and you have one large space; leave it in and the helmet travels in its own compartment. That is the difference between a race bag and ordinary luggage.
There is also a coverable air net insert, which lets air through the bag when it is open. Racewear that goes home damp and stays zipped in a bag until the next event does not improve, so being able to leave it breathing matters.
The padlock is not a token
A full set of racewear plus a helmet is worth well over a thousand pounds and it spends the weekend in a paddock. A lockable zip is worth having.
The wheels
Built for rough ground rather than airport floors, which is what a paddock actually is.
Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Large Batch Of Sparco And OMP Racewear Has Arrive.. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.
Will a full race kit fit?
That is what it is for: suit, boots, gloves, underwear, and in the larger sizes a helmet and HANS too, with wheels so your shoulders do not pay for it across a paddock. If you want to know whether a specific combination fits, ask us for the internal dimensions.
Is it worth a dedicated kit bag over a normal holdall?
The difference is compartments and padding in the right places: wet and dry separation, boot pockets that keep tarmac dust off your suit, and padded sections where they matter. A normal holdall works until the first time a buckle rubs a hole in fireproof fabric.
How do I look after it?
Brush it out and wipe it down rather than machine washing, and let it dry open after a wet weekend. Zips last longest if you close them before storage.
