The OMPKK0-0008-071 is OMP’s waterproof overshoe: a pull-on nylon cover designed to go over racing boots in wet or cold paddock conditions. The purpose is to keep the boot dry and the foot warm between stints or when working in the rain.
Nylon construction with a natural rubber sole. Two Velcro straps across the upper and an elasticated opening provide a close fit over different boot profiles. The rubber sole adds grip on wet tarmac, which a racing boot sole does not offer. Racing boot soles are flat and thin by design, built for pedal feel rather than walking.
These overshoes are not rated for any driving use. They go on when leaving the car or the awning and come off before getting in. Wearing them while driving is not what they are made for.
Sizes from XS (EU 32-34) to XL (UK 10.5-12, EU 45-47). A general guide: go by the EU size of the boot underneath. Nylon does not stretch, so if the boot has thick ankle padding, the overshoe needs to be a size up to close over it.
At £24.50 they are useful kit for anyone who karts or races outdoors through winter or at venues where wet weather in the paddock is routine. A soaking pair of racing boots is a cold and uncomfortable way to spend a race morning.
