The RW-7 Long Johns are the lower half of Sparco’s Shield RW-7 racewear range. FIA 8856-2018 approved. Seamless construction with X-Cool silver treatment for temperature management and anti-bacterial performance.

The seamless design cuts out the pressure points that seamed long johns create against the driver’s legs during a stint. Over an endurance race or a long track day session that becomes a meaningful comfort difference. The X-Cool treatment assists with moisture management and leaves a cooling sensation, which is most noticeable in warmer conditions. The anti-bacterial property is useful when the underwear goes back on for the second session of a weekend without a full wash.

Available in black or white.

Sizing: XS/S fits a 28-34 inch waist (70-85cm), M/L fits 34-40 inch waist (85-101cm), XL/XXL fits 40-46 inch waist (101-117cm).

These pair with the RW-7 long-sleeve top (sold separately) and the RW-7 open-face balaclava to give a full FIA 8856-2018 underwear set from the same range. Buying the three items together saves against individual prices; ask us if you are putting the full set together.

Do I actually need FIA underwear?
If your championship requires it, this is the layer scrutineers ask about, and it is strongly recommended under any suit regardless. These garments are homologated to FIA 8856-2018, the current FIA standard, so the label is there when scrutineers ask for it. What size should I go for?
Sizes run from XS-S to XL-XXL. Underwear layers should sit close to the skin without pinching, as loose fabric wrinkles under the suit and gets uncomfortable fast. Between sizes, take the smaller one for a base layer.

How do I wash it?
Underwear layers are the one bit of racewear you should wash after every use: cool and gentle, no bleach or fabric softener, air dry. That keeps the suit itself needing far fewer washes. Full routine in our racewear care guide.
