The RW-7 Long Sleeve Top is Sparco’s highest-spec FIA race underwear top. Part number 00780M. FIA 8856-2018 approved.

The fabric is treated with Sparco’s X-Cool silver process, which draws heat away from the skin and has an anti-bacterial effect. All logos are printed rather than woven or embossed, because woven badges add material that breaks the continuity of the knit and creates a slightly heavier, less uniform feel against the skin in a hot cockpit.

The construction has no side seams. The fabric wraps the torso as a single piece, with elasticity graduated across different areas so sections near the ribcage and shoulders give where they need to. The result is a close fit that stays in place in the seat without feeling constrictive.

Available in black or white. Three size bands: XS/S (32″ to 36″ chest), M/L (38″ to 46″), XL/XXL (48″ to 52″).

If you are looking for FIA underwear at a lower price, the RW-5 range is a step down in fabric quality. The RW-7 is the one to run if you race often or want the weight and comfort advantage to show across a full day at the circuit.

Do I actually need FIA underwear?
If your championship requires it, this is the layer scrutineers ask about, and it is strongly recommended under any suit regardless. These tops are homologated to FIA 8856-2018, the current FIA standard, so the label is there when scrutineers ask for it. What size should I go for?
Sizes run from XS-S to XL-XXL. Underwear layers should sit close to the skin without pinching, as loose fabric wrinkles under the suit and gets uncomfortable fast. Between sizes, take the smaller one for a base layer.

How do I wash it?
Underwear layers are the one bit of racewear you should wash after every use: cool and gentle, no bleach or fabric softener, air dry. That keeps the suit itself needing far fewer washes. Full routine in our racewear care guide.
