The Alpinestars Race V3 Underwear Bottoms 2024, SKU ALS475-712, are FIA 8856-2018 and SFI 3.3 certified racing underwear bottoms, updated from the original Race V3 design to carry dual homologation. The SFI 3.3 certification extends their acceptance to American-series championships and trans-Atlantic events where FIA-only approval is not accepted.
Like the original Race V3, the construction uses Lenzing FR fibres in a two-layer format with flat seams throughout. The material balance between flame resistance and comfort remains the same: softer than pure Nomex against bare skin, breathable enough for sustained wear, and relaxed enough in cut to allow normal movement without the suit being pulled tight across the knees and thighs during ingress and egress.
The 2024 model comes in black or white rather than the grey and anthracite of the previous version, and sizes run from S to XXL. The colour change brings it in line with the rest of the current Race V3 underwear range so that top and bottom pair visually when worn together. For drivers who also run American-licensed events, the dual SFI 3.3 and FIA 8856-2018 approval on the 2024 model removes the need to carry two separate sets of underwear for different championships.
At £85, the 2024 model costs £9 more than the original Race V3 Bottoms. The ZX Evo V2 Bottoms at £101.50 use a denser construction with better temperature regulation for endurance use if budget allows.
