Which Stilo Helmets Work With Which Stilo Intercoms? The Full Compatibility Guide

A customer ordered a Stilo Venti Trophy helmet and a Stilo WRC 03 intercom in the same basket. Both are Stilo and both are made for rally, but the two will not talk to each other. The Venti Trophy carries Stilo’s older Trophy electronics, the WRC 03 speaks the WRC system, and Stilo does not make an adaptor between them.

What that customer needed was the Venti4 Trophy Plus, which has the WRC electronics fitted and a Nexus plug to match. It is an easy mistake, because the names overlap: Trophy and Trophy Plus sound like one family, and they are two. This page lines up every Stilo rally helmet against every Stilo intercom we list. It follows Stilo’s own compatibility chart, and the prices come from our live listings.

The short answer

Stilo makes two families of rally electronics. Trophy is the older, cheaper one, and it only connects the Trophy 2 Intercom amplifier to the Venti Trophy Rally Helmet and Trophy DES Rally Helmet – XXL helmets.

Everything else with an intercom fitted, including every Trophy Plus helmet, runs WRC electronics and works with the WRC 03, the WRC DES 9V and the DG amplifiers. Wireless is a third route: the DG WL-10 Wireless Digital Intercom Amplifier with a WL Key in each helmet, and only on helmets built to take the key.

Why the names trip people up

Cameron sees the same mix-up every month, and it is nearly always the word Plus. This is how the names sort out.

Trophy
The older Stilo electronics. Found on the Venti Trophy Rally and the Trophy DES Rally, and connects to the Trophy 2 only.
Trophy Plus
Sounds like a better Trophy, and is a different system. It carries WRC electronics, so it works with the WRC and DG amplifiers.
WRC
Stilo's main rally electronics. On the Venti WRC, Venti4 WRC, WRX and rally ST6 helmets, and the name of the amplifiers built for them.
DG
The digital amplifiers: DG-10, DG-20 and DG-30, their Raid versions, and the wireless DG WL-10.
Venti4
The current shell. The Venti4 Trophy Plus carries FIA 8859-2024 and Snell SA2025.
Jet
A helmet with no intercom fitted. You add the kit that matches your amplifier.

The map: every helmet and every intercom

Helmets are on the left and intercoms on the right. The coloured boxes in the middle are the electronics each side uses, and two things that reach the same box connect. The Trophy box stands on its own, and that gap is the one that catches people out.

The same answers as a table

The map and the table say the same thing. Use the table when you want to check a pair by eye, and scroll sideways on a phone.

  • Works. Both sides use the same Stilo electronics.
  • Works, may need a lead. The Raid amplifiers have female sockets, and many helmets need the Stilo AC0204.2 lead between the two. Tell us the helmet and we confirm it.
  • Does not work. No adaptor fixes this.
  • Ask us first. Stilo does not list the pairing on its chart, so we confirm each helmet before you order.
  • Helmets with no intercom fitted: Stilo Venti Trophy Jet: Ear cups but no intercom fitted. Takes a Trophy DES Rally kit or a Trophy DES Plus kit. Stilo Venti4 Trophy Jet: No intercom fitted, so you choose the connector. Stilo Sport Jet: No intercom fitted. The Sport Plus is the same shell with one fitted.

Headsets, helmet kits and adaptors

Headsets and the kits that fit inside a helmet follow the same split. A Trophy kit goes with the Trophy 2, and a WRC kit goes with everything else. The adaptors are for mixing in other brands, or for the Raid amplifiers.

Already ordered the wrong pair?

Take the example from the top: a Venti Trophy Rally and a WRC 03. There are two ways out, and each is a single change.

Change the intercom

Swap the WRC 03 for the Trophy 2 Intercom at £100.80. It is the cheapest fix, and the pair then works.

Change the helmet

Move to a Trophy Plus helmet such as the Venti4 Trophy Plus Rally Helmet, from £604.69, and keep the WRC 03 Intercom at £204.00.

A Jet helmet with no intercom is the easiest case, because you choose the kit to match the amplifier: the Trophy kit for a Trophy 2, and the Plus or WRC kit for everything else.

Trophy or WRC from the start? We do not agree

Cameron says buy WRC from day one. The Trophy 2 only talks to Trophy Rally helmets, nothing in Stilo’s range bridges the gap, and if the car gets louder or faster you replace the helmet as well as the amplifier. The Venti4 Trophy Plus also carries the newer FIA 8859-2024 and Snell SA2025 approvals.

Garreth says a club car does not need it. Our listing describes the Trophy 2 as the clubman and Group N choice for quieter cars, and the Trophy pair comes to £542.40 against £808.69 for the WRC pair. That is £266.29 you can spend on tyres, and for three rallies a year in a quiet car he will sell the Trophy pair and not lose sleep.

Where we agree: never mix the two families, and if you are not sure which one you already own, ring us before you buy anything else.

What we would buy

Three pairings from the guide, with the totals worked out from the live prices. Each one is a helmet and an amplifier, so add a second helmet for the co-driver.

Questions we get

Will a Stilo WRC 03 work with a Venti Trophy?

No. The Venti Trophy Rally uses Trophy electronics and the WRC 03 uses WRC electronics. Stilo does not make an adaptor between the two. A Trophy Plus helmet, such as the Venti4 Trophy Plus, works with the WRC 03.

Does the Venti4 Trophy Plus work with the DG-20?

Yes. The Venti4 Trophy Plus carries Stilo's WRC rally kit, which Stilo says works with wired and wireless WRC connections. Choose the DG-20 connector that matches your helmet, or ask us which one to order.

Can I use a Trophy 2 with a Trophy Plus helmet?

No. Stilo says the Trophy 2 is not compatible with Trophy Plus, WRC or ST5 helmets. It is built for the Trophy Rally helmets only.

Is there an adaptor from Trophy to WRC?

Not from Stilo, and the dealers we checked say the same. You change one side so that the helmet and the amplifier are on the same electronics.

Which helmets work with the DG WL-10?

The ones built to take a WL Key: the Venti WRC, Venti4 WRC and Trophy Plus helmets, and the WRX range. Each helmet needs its own key, sold separately.

Do Peltor, Sparco or Bell helmets work with Stilo amplifiers?

Often, with an adaptor lead. The Stilo AC0200 connects Peltor, Sparco and some Bell helmets to the WRC and DG range, and it does not work with the Trophy 2. Tell us the helmet and the amplifier and we confirm the lead.

What about the circuit helmets, like the ST6 F?

Those are built for team radio through earplug sockets, not a rally intercom, so we check each one before pairing it with an amplifier. Drop us an email or click to open a chat with the helmet you have.

Final thoughts: check the family before you click

Two questions settle almost every case: which electronics does the helmet carry, and which does the amplifier use. If both say Trophy, or both say WRC, they connect. If one of each, they do not, and no lead fixes it.

Ring us on 0115 647 8650 with the helmet and the amplifier you are looking at and Garreth or Cameron will check the pair, or come in and try the helmets in the showroom.
