The Stilo WRC DES 9V rally intercom has a number of features over and above the WRC 03 intercom to further enhance the quality of sound and extra items to increase its functionality.
While it uses the same WRC intercom circuit the 9V model has a switch to enable an analog extra noise filter, which offers an extra level of noise-canceling in a clubman priced intercom. This is a real benefit for noisy rally cars, and while it benefits R2, R3 and Super 2000 cars it has also worked really well in Gp4 Escorts.
The intercom features individual volume controls for driver and co-driver and has a connection at the rear for a camera/radio connection. This connection can be altered between an output or an input for the intercom with a switch on the inside of the box. As an input, it allows the connection of a team radio or an MP3 player, and as an output for the intercom, feed to go to an onboard camera system. Also, within the box there is a switch to boost the volume of the crew’s communications, this is ideal when connected to Go Pro-style cameras.
This WRC 9v also gives you 2 options for powering the system, one with a 9v battery, but also hard-wired to the car’s electrical 12-volt power supply.
And like the has been designed with a groove for easy fitment onto a car’s rollbar.
Key Features:
- Best analog intercom on the market
- WRC electronics with extra noise filter selected with the flick of a switch
- Rear connection for either a camera output or radio input (switched internally)
- Option of power supply: 9-volt battery or 12-volt car power supply
- Individual volume controls for driver and co-driver
Will it work with my helmets?
Your helmets need to be intercom-wired, either factory intercom-ready or fitted with a headset kit, and the connectors must match the amplifier system. Tell us which helmets you have and we will spec the exact leads or kits to make this work, in one go.
What do I need for a complete working setup?
An amplifier like this one, a wired kit in each helmet, and the leads that join them. If you are starting from nothing, send us your helmet models and whether you want music, phone, or radio in the mix, and we will quote the full setup rather than leaving you to guess at parts.
Is it loud enough for a race car?
These systems are designed around exactly that problem: a straight-cut gearbox and open exhaust are why sound-deadened headsets and speech-focused amplification exist. Set microphone placement right against the lips and you will hold a conversation at full noise. If your car is unusually loud, ask us about the higher-output units.
